Littman Gallery is proud to present, " i have no choice but to suck the juice out, and who am i to blame,” a sculptural exhibition by ceramic sculptor and performance artist, Maya Vivas. While exploring questions of body and space, Vivas investigates meditations originating from their own neurotic tendencies by using absurdity, elegance, carnality, speculative fiction, and body horror.

Artist Biography:
Maya Vivas is a ceramic sculptor and performance artist based out of Portland Oregon. Their ceramic sculptures have been featured in an array of galleries throughout Portland, Los Angeles and New Zealand, including venues in association with The National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts. Vivas is the Co-Owner of Ori Gallery whose mission is to redefine "the white cube" through amplifying the voices of Queer and Trans Artists of color, community organizing and mobilization through the arts.

Artist Statement:
Through sculptural gesture, I navigate questions of body and space, as filtered through my own experience as a queer black femme. I am interested in using absurdity, elegance, carnality, speculative fiction, and body horror to investigate meditations originating from my own neurotic tendencies.
