About the Jurors:

Ashley Gifford is a photographer, writer, and curator based in Portland, OR, originally from Honolulu, HI. She is the Founder & Director of Art & About, a platform documenting the contemporary art ecology in the Portland and beyond since 2014. Additionally, she is co-founder and co-editor of Critical Viewing (an off-shoot collaborative publication of Art & About) that provides information about upcoming art exhibitions, performances, readings, lectures, artist talks, social practice projects and more in the Pacific Northwest. She is the co-founder/curator at homebase; a multidisciplinary art gallery, venue, and backyard in Southeast Portland.

Over the past decade, she has worked in museums, galleries and other creative organizations as a gallery attendant, preparator and administrator. Her writing can be found on Art & About, well as Art Practical, PICA TBA:19 Blog, and elsewhere. She attended the University of Hawaii at Manoā with degrees in Art History & Studio Art and a minor in Business Management. Her art and social practices explore the intersection between technology and art and the relationships
within it.

Luiza Lukova is a poet, arts writer and curator based in Portland, OR. She is originally from Bulgaria but grew up between Kentucky and Europe. She has been published for Oregon Arts Watch, Art Practical, and 60 Inch Center, among others, and is an active contributor for Art & About PDX. She has worked for Nationale Gallery in Portland for the past 4 years, and in the summer of 2019 she co-founded homebase, a multidisciplinary art gallery, venue, and backyard in Southeast Portland. She co-directs and curates homebase with friend and colleague Ashley Gifford. Her art and social practice explore the deeply personal; her written work borders on the confessional, and her curatorial practice aims to highlight nontraditional makers and the relationships those artists have with themselves and their work.
