On January 8th, Littman Gallery will host a real “Golden Night Market,” that will feature local artists and vendors. Join Littman + White Galleries for their first Golden Night Market! In addition to the exhibition under the same name, Littman Gallery will be hosting a pop up multicultural market for one evening only on January 15th from 5-7PM. Join us for light snacks, interactive art pieces and tabling artists. Curated by Thién Mùi Easland.
Curatorial Statement:
As a child, I was fascinated with night markets, and festivals where I was able to celebrate with others throughout a scene full of warm lights, vibrant colors and vendors of all kinds. Through this show I aim to create this same feeling for visitors, in what feels almost like an immersive experience. Between the bright works on display, or the interactive pieces everyone has something they can experience that brings a sense of warmth to the room even if it’s chilly outside this Winter.

Artist Bios:
Christian Orellana-Bauer
Christian Orellana Bauer is an artist based in Portland, OR. His work hopes to promote thought, discussion, and parallels between and within both his own cultures/communities in the United States as well as the world. These discussions revolve around topics such as race, gender, mental health, socioeconomic disparities, expressions of or questions about the human experience/condition, "insignificant" art, critiques of the fine art community and more. These themes are discussed through the artists multicultural lens often considering the concept of an ethnocentric v.s ethnorelativist viewpoint, the idea of cultural belonging, and its relationship to race. They also strive to make their art as approachable as possible through the use of language, materials, and their own artistic process.
Daniel Sandoval:
The primordial creative forces pushing life forward also influence his hand. Throughout the chaos in the beginning of his life creative energy steadily put things in order. Daniel “Danish” Hernandez Sandoval started as a graffiti writer over a decade ago and picked up a brush and other media a couple years into that. Now that he has aligned himself with the infinitely creative potential, his process is an ever-evolving endeavor to express that inner spark which inspires us all.
Llorona Luna:
Llorona Luna is a Mexican, queer, Pacific Northwest artist/brand dedicated to creating heartfelt work inspired by their odyssey, experiences and nostalgic aesthetics. They are always looking to share their passions with the world through their art and their mission is to connect with others through visual language and emotions. Llorona thrives off the energy of playful imagery and works best while surrounded by loved ones and their 2 year old Saint Bernard.
Amanda Huynh:
Amanda Huynh is a LA based freelance motion graphic animator/designer by day and some sort of gremlin artist at night. Inspired by her own feelings, pin ups, and sparkly things, she creates black and white works as an attempts to convey an extension of herself to reach out to others.
Karen Cheok:
Karen Cheok is a Malaysian-Chinese visual artist currently pursuing a Fine Arts education at the Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA) while simultaneously diving into her freelance artist career. Cheok’s works are dominantly influenced by her imaginations and world perspective. Her paintings are infused with vibrant colours and feature a collective realm of mythological theme, allowing her to depicts an imaginary universe that is both aesthetically and intriguingly visionary. A strong use of colours and visual movement found in Cheok’s work remain central and consistent across artistic mediums. Her art aims to allure audiences to explore and be mesmerized by her whimsical and colourfully structured interpretation of the world.
Alexis Courtez:
Alexis Cortez, more often known by the name "LUNA," is a visual artist from Southern California. Although art has always been a constant practice in her life, only until recently has she began showcasing her art to the public. Due to art being a very personal practice for her-- she hopes to captivate her viewers through the figurative expression of the human body and the subtle connotations of her own personal connections as both an artist, an LGBTQ+ woman, and as well as her journey of dealing with Bipolar disorder. Within the "fruit series" you can see the connection of the dismal state of isolation due to depression and the beauty that can easily hide the true meaning behind the something that goes unlooked unless told.
Kitty Kai-Xin Gin:
Kitty Kai-Xin Gin is a LA-based visual artist whose works are focused on the juxtaposition of contrasting concepts. Kitty is inspired mainly by Renaissance archetypes, science fiction, and Chinese folklore. Her vibrant pieces aim to balance both unsettling imagery with exciting color palettes and are an exploration of the human psyche. Kitty is currently an art student whose works have been exhibited throughout the West Coast and sold internationally.
